The brief
A private collector's apartment where the walls are the joinery and the joinery is the collection.
Built area
240 m²
Levels
1
Joinery
184 linear metres, bespoke
Timber
Smoked oak, single log
Lighting
DALI-2, 46 circuits
Delivery
Occupied building
The constraint
Every piece of joinery had to come from one oak log for grain continuity — and fit through a 1920s lift.
What we did
Digitally sequenced the log into 184 components, cut in Jutland, assembled room by room on site.
The result
Continuous grain across every elevation. Nine months, no lift damage, building never vacated.
One log
Grain continuity across every elevation meant every component had to come from a single oak. We digitally sequenced the log into 184 pieces before the first cut, mapping each one to its final position so the figure runs unbroken from the entrance hall to the last cabinet door.
Access
The building has a 1920s lift and stayed occupied throughout. Nothing larger than the lift car was ever fabricated, which set the maximum component size and drove the entire jointing strategy.
